Most people these days buy a new car on a Personal Contract Purchase, or PCP, deal. PCP deals are good news for buyers, because with this type of financing you're only paying for a small percentage of the car's value – meaning you could drive away in something you might otherwise struggle to afford.

Here, we've picked our top 10 new cars you can have for £450 per month or less. This list has been compiled using our Target Price research, which reveals the most you should pay for a new car. Each of these deals is based on 15% of the value of the car combined with the manufacturer's finance discount contribution (if there is one). All deals are for three years, with a limit of 10,000 miles per year.

If you find one you like, simply click on the relevant link to find out more. Alternatively, call us on 03302 216207 and we'll be happy to help find you a great deal from What Car? New Car Buying.

10. Mercedes-AMG A35

Target Price cost per month: £402 Target Price (on the road): £35,684 The deal: 3 years PCP finance with 6.2% APR

Mercedes-AMG A35

Think of the A35 as a halfway house between the regular A-Class family hatchback and the fire-breathing A45. That's not to say this AMG creation isn't pretty hot by itself (after all, it has a turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol engine with 302bhp resting under its bonnet), but it also retains more of the comfort and practicality of the standard car. If you're looking for a performance hatchback to use every day, it could be just the ticket.

Audi A5 2019 Front right cornering shot

The A5 is essentially a sleeker version of the popular A4 saloon, and that's a good thing, because the A4 is a former What Car? Car of the Year. True, the A5 is priced higher, but big discounts are available, and it's a comfortable, quiet and classy choice. The turbocharged 2.0-litre petrol engine you get here is a punchy performer, while Black Edition cars get 20in alloy wheels and some styling enhancements.

The latest version of BMW's Audi Q3 rival is good to drive and has a practical, high-quality interior. Audi A4

As a former What Car? Car of the Year, it's no surprise to see the A4 featuring on this list. It's a great performer in every respect, offering an exceptionally refined range of engines an opulent interior. The 2.0-litre diesel engine here is our pick of the range, and it gets four-wheel drive for added traction on greasy roads. Sport trim offers styling enhancements to give your saloon a more aggressive look.

Cupra Ateca

The Cupra Ateca may be one of the cheapest options in the growing sports SUV market, but it's also among the best – indeed, it won our inaugural Sports SUV of the Year trophy at last year's What Car? Awards. Power comes from a punchy 2.0-litre turbo petrol engine, so it's pleasantly quick, but it's also just as practical as the regular Seat Ateca.
